Strawberries and Mint

I have always loved the flavor combination of strawberries and mint. Is this a normal combo? I feel like it is weird but I love it. I got soem berries from the store that were so-so so I didnt want to just serve them plain.... so I minced about 15 mint leaves (chiffonade then cut those crosswise so the pieces are teeny - big pieces of mint leaves are just way too overwhelming) and tossed them with a pint of sliced strawberries and about 2 spoonfuls of sugar (to help draw our the juices). Then let the macerate for an hour or two in the fridge.

Served over really good vanilla ice cream... heavenly.

Wifey linked me to your blog. I don't know how she found it, but I have to say, I couldn't agree more regarding Jennifer being sent home unjustly. Sooo frustrating! Several of the remaining chefs are WELL below her skill level. I think she actually could have had a chance at winning, whereas there are several doofuses still competing that clearly never could.

I also LOVE strawberries mixed with mint.

Wanna try something fun?

Pick up a couple baskets of super ripe strawberries and freeze them on a cookie tray. (Or when not in season, 2 bags from the freezer section will work (organic of course).

Ingredients:
1: 2 baskets of Strawberries, Frozen
2: 1/4 cup of Fresh mint leaves
3: 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice
4: 1/4 cup of liquor (I love Malibu or Grand Marnier)
5: Sugar to taste (depends on how sweet the berries are)

Put the frozen berries and mint into the Cuisinart and pulse until they're nicely broken up. Add the liquids and the sugar and blend until mixed (not smooth).

Scoop into tuperware and freeze for 30-90 minutes.

Bestest homemade sorbet in the world and totally easy.

(All measurements are guess-timates, I've never actually measured any of this, i just make it to taste).

Thanks for your blog, I look forward to trying your recipe.
